We here at the altladies.com Community choose to decline in the
participation of the now common Internet practice of requiring
that a Guest provide personal information in exchange for
User privileges, nor do we feel the need to subject our Guests
to personally invasive forms as an entrance condition.
We intend to steadfastly adhere to our 'no strings attached' policy
regarding our Guest's use of this Community, as shall we also strive
to continue to maintain a complimentary and commercial-free site
for our Guest's convenience and enjoyment.
We consider YOU, our Guest, to be THE single most important
element of our Community, and we are quite grateful for your

This Community is NOT a cyber site, NOT a dating site, and is
definitely NOT a pornography site! Although it appears that for
some strange reason this Community has been deemed a
pornography site by certain self-proclaimed "watchdog" websites,
they have evidently failed to actually visit and examine it, as this
Community could by no far stretch of the imagination be considered
a pornography website. Simply being a Lesbian is excuse enough
to be labeled as pornographic on the Internet these days, Ladies,
and we should all tremendously resent that sad fact.

In regard to our Wedding Chapel - this room was especially designed
to be used by any Guests wishing to proclaim and demonstrate their
Love for one other on the Internet. Please understand that conducting
a Wedding or a Joining here cannot be considered, in any manner, a
legal Ceremony, but is merely a way for two Women to express
their feelings and to share them with the Community.

Our HERstory
The altladies.com Community was initially launched June 30,1998.

Expressly created for Lesbians to provide a quality (and safe)
alternative to the 'meat market' chat establishments currently
available online, this Community's main objective was to fulfill
the needs of those Women who simply desired to socialize with
one another within a pleasant and tranquil setting without being
forced to suffer rude interruption and unwelcome contact.

We began on a wing and a prayer with a chat client and a vision
and then hesitantly commenced from that point. We soon learned
that, as the Community flourished and expanded (sometimes at an
increasingly alarming rate), this sort of venture tended to take on
a life of its own. But, even though this Community has grown ex-
ponentially since its inception, we do feel that we have managed
to preserve and maintain the concept of its original design - that of
a welcoming, respectful, and supportive SHELTERED SPACE
for all Women, regardless of whether or not they are Lesbians.

The use of this Community was always intended to be
completely free of charge, requiring neither monetary nor
informational exchange as qualification for User privileges.

We accept absolutely no commercial banner advertisements,
nor do we utilize click advertisements. We selectively advertise
ONLY not-for-profit sites of specific interest to both Lesbians
and heterosexual Women. We do offer Links to certain com-
mercial sites, but these are also carefully chosen to reflect the
general tastes and interests of our Guests.

This Community is solely owned, operated and administered by
EarthMother,
who was born a Lesbian and is quite PROUD of that fact. :)

Submission FYI
All submissions, whether they be Poetry, Fiction, Images, or whatever,
are ever welcome here and are always considered for posting.
All submissions continue to belong in entirety to the Contributor, and
they shall remain in control of all aspects of their own Work or Images.
Certain submissions must be Copyrighted, so please date your Work
for Copyright purposes. If a date is unspecified, then the month
and the year that it was received shall become the Copyright date.
If applicable, please include the name or nick to be posted with
your submission.
If appropriate, we normally link
the Contributor's e-mail address to
their submission, so please provide a viable e-mail address for this
purpose. If you would prefer to retain your anonymity and yet
receive all responses and comments generated by your Art, then that
can also be arranged. Simply request this service upon submission.
Although all Link
submissions are considered, we reserve the final
decision as just to which selections shall actually be posted.
