TEARS IN THE WIND
Skya Wode
© August 21, 1997
Last night under the moon less, star clouded heavens I felt your
tears in the wind that blew across the desert like a furnace on my
sun baked skin. My rust colored horse picked her way absentmindedly
through the fragrant sagebrush that once held you as enthralled as
I to this beautiful harsh landscape. I guided my mare to a narrow
pathway and gave her control as we climbed the steep switch backs
out of the deep ravine to the barren mesa. Taking the kerchief
from around my neck, I wiped the sweat from my face and took a
swallow of water from the canteen hanging from the saddle horn.
I thought about the last time we were together and how we tried to
stretch 24 hours into an eternity. But the inevitable had arrived
and I remember your reaction when I told you it was time for me to
leave. You said nothing, you simply stared straight ahead then
covered your haunting eyes with your hands. No tears were shed,
but when you lowered your trembling hands from your face, your
eyes betrayed the pains of a thousand good-byes. I held you in my
arms, tenderly brushed your lips with mine, gave you my heart for
safekeeping and vanished out of your life.
No tears were shed then...but here, alone with my horse and the
hidden denizens of the desert night, I look up at Orion, our
favorite constellation, I smell the sweet desert sagebrush, our
favorite perfume, I choke back the sobbing loneliness in my soul
and feel your tears on the wind.

Time To Reflect
by Sally Ann

Every time a new dawn starts, your emotions churn with despair to see
unknown paths and directions, that confuse your life so incessantly
the roads are so hard, you cross mountains only to be blocked by the sea
hopeless are your attempts to grab at a wish, you mourn the loss of a key
to unlock that old dream, a deep yearning this desire to be free
Sometimes the constant pressure, to survive and compete
builds a tower so tall, fastens weights on your feet
it handcuffs your heart, then switches off the light
blackens out all stars, laughs lewdly at your fright
leaving you feeling so helpless, tears puddle your pillow at night
Time's aging mind plays these tricks, it blinkers your eyes
then crushes your choices, ignores all of your cries
it lets you forget, keeps you deaf to the sound
of all those loving voices, hidden so closely around
this subtle deception, stops them from being found
Well all that is written here, may not be true for you
after all they are just words, some different and some new
but if you can just stop for a moment, even pause for a few
take time to focus your eyes, let them open your mind
trust a voice from inside, then this could be your find
A soft breeze that touches your nose
long grass playfully tickling your toes
those petals of beauty you see in a rose
the musical hum of an innocent bee
a white dove observing you from a tree
an imp, no it's a squirrel, so playful and free
these are God's gifts to you and to me
Your mother is smiling as she listens to your voice
and father so strongly supportive whatever your choice
sister's shoulder awaits to gently wipe at a tear
aunts, cousins, your friends they are all very near
because it is you that warms hearts, you hold them so dear
Yes, your birth's day is again here to remind
that time is an enigma yet it isn't unkind
this day that you celebrate has a truth nothing new
your family, friends, many others to name just a few
all gather together to see someone special, they know it is true
forever their ties to a beautiful heart, so loving, so kind, yes.. You !
So now when you reflect, then do so and smile
let us see eyes shining, laughter heard from a mile
you see now what is written, NO ?, not noticed yet
then let me explain before I forget
that breeze, the toes
those petals from the rose
playful the imp, squirrel, a tree and white dove
all special ingredients of you, a treasure, forever to love

my love for all women that want to be free

how could i have known
through the school years
of people whispering about me
how could i have known
that i was a lesbian
i did not even know
myself
i was gay
until one day
the cheerleaders i loved
the homecoming queens
but what about the girls
the girls that don't fit
the girls like me
like so many others
that did not fit in high school
i will say loud and clear
i am lucky
lucky to have found a woman i love
a woman that loves me
but what of the others
the others that have no freedom
please let us think of them
and pray for them
whatever religion we are
women in a world of intolerance
women too afraid
to take a stand
we have sisters out there
that we will NEVER know
please
pray for them
it is the least we can do

my, how the years have passed
my heroines
bette, katherine, and marilyn
they are why i love you
women are strong
so strong it is frightening
i want an equal world
a world where we have no ego
a world where
all we do is love
woman to woman
man to man
woman to man
what does it matter
i still believe in love
i still hope
for a future
where love and caring
is what matters
and no one
will break me from that hope
i am a dreamer
without that
life is futile
dream your dream
that is our childrens future
a life of equality
our children
are the future
we must be
as brave as they are

my heart is bursting
at all the love
at all the pain
of humanity
we are a world
of feeling intelligent people
yet we get blind sided
we are all good
yet we get lost
we all have angels
my belief my goal
i do not want anything
to affect me
i want to rise above
to love my wife
to love my friends
to give love to those in pain
this is my religion
we are all beautiful
and to those that hate
to give love in return
it is the only way
for us to truly win
win the point of life
for a future
we can all live with
a future where
we are all equal
this is our hope
our only hope
love to all
for that is all
that matters
love
peace to humanity
we need it
and we need
to take responsibility
for it
love
to all
